The very popular series of Punk-O-Rama compilations from Epitaph have always been a good and cheap way of introducing people to new bands. After many years of this series for some reason they have decided to change its name, probably because the label has got a pretty diverse roster nowadays. Not being solely Pop-punk, hardcore-esque stuff they built there name on. With a roster that takes in post-rock, hip-hop, indie, electronica alongside the usual punk/HC stuff. As always though, it’s a compilation, so there are the good on here and the pretty bad.

Kicking it all of is the maturer, dirtier and noisier sounding From First To Last, showing the progression from screamo kids to something else is reachable. Other highlights include the always excellent Converge with “Last Light”, Motion City Soundtracks catchy indie-lite, HC supergroup Some Girls, Dangerdoom, Sage Francis and The Draft all show themselves to be awesome additions to the Epitaph roster. On the down side, The Matches, Escape the Fate, Vanna and Bad Religion are all sounding pretty tired or weak on here, but then it is a compilation isn’t it.
