Coventry Rockers King Hermit are something to behold, I can testify to seeing them live recently and they are amazingly energetic live for a three piece. But does this energy transfer to the recorded medium? (Puts on best Jeremy Clarkson voice) Yes…yes it does!

Straight away we’re thrown into Home Cooked Cookin’ which could be mistaken for the Arctic Monkeys but it’s way too good to be them and it rocks so much more than anything they’ve ever done. You can also watch their fraught video for this song at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3-Ijg3Ssss it’s well worth watching the whole film.

Then we have a reworked version of their number Fire When Ready that has been retooled to stick in your head for days. Then we have Blood Stains On My White Hands, which has some amusing lyrics and great use of backing vocals. Overall this is a great rock EP that was recorded locally at River Cool Studios where they obviously know how to get the best out of the band.
