I’m always pleasantly surprised by Fight Like Apes, they never sound quite like I expect them to. I always think they’re going to be rather dour and vaguely aloof, but they’re not at all. They’re like a more pop Mclusky (this is a GOOD thing) with added female vocals and keyboards (which is also a GOOD THING). There’s a nice summery laid back feel to the songs here, which is particularly nice in these grim months, interspersed with forays into distortion and almost prog like noodlings. Good stuff.
