Stalking for Dummies
Imagine, if you will, a world in which Kimya Dawson came from Liverpool and had spent the last few years of her life in London, honing her sense of humour and distilling it into the kind of effortless lyrics that Lily Allen could only ever dream of coming up with.
Well that world’s not real, obviously, but it doesn’t need to be because Gemma Garmeson fits the bill perfectly, and then some. Stalking for Dummies is just about as perfect a collection of bittersweet pop songs as you’re likely to find this year. Some of the songs are wonderfully silly, whilst others are a bit more serious, but they all share a sense of humour and fun which means you just can’t help but warm to them, and indeed to Gemma herself.
