The Last Steampunk Waltz (Single)

Ghostfire

Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, the term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used, often Victorian era England - but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H.G Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date.

Other examples of steampunk contain alternate-style presentations of "the path not taken" of such technology as dirigibles, mechanical computers, (such as Charles Babbage’s Analytical Engine); these frequently are presented in an idealized light, or with a presumption of functionality. Just thought you should know.

One of my favourite things about steampunk, was that it didn’t really have a musical genre to go with its stylised, fantastical dressing up. If it did it would be this. Like a bawdy sea shanty played by people who live in a smoggy overcrowded city, where the air is thick with steam & coal dust.

A lilting harpsichord underpins the wandering bass line & chanted choruses. It’s nice to have a song title so aptly describe a song’s sound & feel. I really hope this waltz isn’t the last, Telsa’s saving a dance for me.
